Nineteen of the Russian's 21 titles have been won on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev secured his first trophy for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a difficult season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in especial - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Presently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's maiden championship after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court after that period of that year.

Success also means the Russian has secured 21 titles at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters together, so to win a title is particularly special," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in that event earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching play style and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to play at the elite level was over.

But the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

He came back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the last five points to go ahead.

The pair traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first professional victory, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

Moutet defended 4 early-game chances in a close third set before the Russian broke to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, he secured the win with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman failing to control a volley after a lengthy match.
